This is my Un-attainable goal for 2005
OK!, So last year i decided I'd set a goal of running an ironMan in under 13hrs. Of course when I set it , I kinda knew I could pull it off. My final time was 12hr32 mins. I'm happy with just finishing, however, the truth is I finished without any MAJOR difficulty, and that tells me that I didn't push myself hard enough.

So this year, I thought I'd go big and try to shave a full hour off that time. That may not seem like a lot to many of you reading this, but trust me, that's HUGE. Here is how I think i can pull this off:

1) Last year, I swam the event with a "Detached Labrum" and really held back in the swim in order to not have too much discomfort for the other 11hrs in the race. My swim time was 1hr28 min... That's not bad.... FOR A GIRL... on a good day I've done that in 1hr 10 mins so that is 18 mins right there.

2) Next comes the bike. Last year I came in 4th in my age group with a time of 6hr 4 mins in really good conditions. I've recently had personal best times on 1hr sprints and I believe that in equivalent conditions, i might be able to finish in the 5hr 55 range. If the wind or rain shows up... this is impossible.

3) Finally comes the dreaded run. This is where I've been training the hardest this winter. In the past, my 1/2 marathon times were in the 1hr50 mins range (very average). Lately, I can regularly acheive that distance in 92ish mins. The best news here is not so much my time, but the fact that my heart rate is somewhere around 140-150 at the end of that distance. This leads me to beleive that i could carry that speed through most of a Marathon.

So between the 3 event and if the weather conditions are right, I may be able to pull this off.... but its a loonnnnnggg shot.

Where in the world is Jacques Vigeant ?

I was out with friends a while back and someone made a joke about me cycling around the globe. When I got back home that night, for the hell of it, I did the math and to my shock I found that I've put in enough mileage to circle the globe at the equator since I started triathlons.

So I thought it would be amusing to track this since I started training for the IronMan.
